Hi there, I am Kate, beginner potter. This is an article about the 9th month of me doing pottery. You can check the previous post here.

The previous month was difficult for me, I started having some issues with my health, lack of concentration and had problems with memory and sleep. Therefore, I temporarily didn’t work and could not do anything at all including pottery. I was just lying in bed. Now I feel better and this month I decided to take up my own shop and threw cups and therefore you can find my etsy shop. Memory and concentration problems still remain, so I have put on hold watching the Advancing Glazes course by CeramicMaterialsWorkshop for now, but I try to do some of the labs.

This month I made some new cups, did some photoshoots and mixed some new glazes.

I had been planning to open my own e-store for a few times, but did not dare yet. One of the problems was that I was not sure about the quality of my product. Therefore, in order to start selling something, I made a criteria list which my pots should meet in order to appear in the store.

Criteria List for the Pots

After that, I made a list of the products that I want to see in my first store. It includes three sizes of mugs, plates and sushi sets.

List of Products

Later, I tried to determine the MVP of the e-store, the areas which I need to concentrate on and what kind of work I need to do in order to open a store on etsy.com

Products at the shop

At my shop I gathered various pots I was throwing while I’ve being studying pottery.

Mugs in different sizes and glazes: 400ml, 350ml, 150ml. I mixed and applied the glazes myself. Glazes are glossy and matte and lead-free. Malachite Green is the glaze which I designed and mixed by myself.

Some of the Mugs (400ml, 350ml, 150ml)

Two sushi sets: Each of them includes sushi tray, two plates, two saucers and two stands for the chopsticks.

Two sizes of plates which I made with slabbing technic in different glazes:

CeramicMaterialsWorkshop Labs

I am working on my Malachite Green glaze and am trying to learn how to control crystal growth. Not very successful yet. But I am currently working on two new experiments.

New glazes

I am currently working on the two new glazes, which I am planning to use later in my products. They look like white and dark chocolate.

Next month I plan to come up with a strategy for promoting the store, maybe shoot some videos for YouTube and throw new cups.

Thank you for reading 🍯 ✌
