How I started to be a potter. 10th month. April 2021

Hi there, I am Kate, beginner potter. This is an article about the 10th month of me doing pottery. You can check the previous post here.

I did some branding this month and printed my business cards. I have posted two new recipes on glazy.org. And also I opened my YouTube channel and shot the first videos.

I had my first 3 orders on dobropottery.etsy.com this month. The first week my store had very few views and no orders, so I decided to use etsy ads. Now I pay € 3 per day for advertising. Views and favorites increased immediately. For now, I use ads for all products to determine which ones are the most popular. Next month I plan to reduce my budget to € 2 and choose the most popular items for promotion.

I’ve finished my studies at CeramicMaterialsWorkshop. I really enjoyed learning how to make glaze on my own. I am going to put into practice the knowledge that I have received.

This month I’ve been growing some crystals with Dobros’s Malachite Green glaze. Tried out slow cooling for it, which resulted in lots of crystals forming.

Also I have finished my work on the two new glazes and published recipes on glazy.org. I called them Dobro’s Dark Chocolate and Dobro’s White Chocolate.

This month I tried making a cat cup and painted it with the underglazes.

And I have also tried to make several new forms by doing some carving on the mugs.

But mostly I dealt with the already familiar cup forms and plates.

Branding and Social Media

This month I printed out business cards and made little houses that I add to my order packages. This is a part of my branding.

I also opened my YouTube channel, where I am going to upload videos and share my experience and my process of making ceramics.

This month I posted the first two videos: Making a Mug and Grinding and Sanding the Bottoms.

Next month I am going to add new items to the store. For now, I am going to consolidate and improve the skills I have already acquired.
